Verizon and 3G/EV and boot speed issues

I got my Touch Pro 2 Tuesday and love it so far. However, I am having 2 issues that are annoying.

1) I hardly EVER get 3G! It is almost always 1x. On my XV6800, it was almost always EV in the same areas! I updated the PRL to the latest and still it is almost always on 1x. We have had EVDO for almost 4 years!

2) It boots up relatively quick, however, it takes FOREVER before I can actually do anything afterwards. After several minutes I can actually touch something and it go to it, but even then, it takes a while to display. After about 5 minutes, it responds like it is supposed to.

Anybody else experience this issue with their Verizon Touch Pro 2?

for your first issue check out this thread: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=85539. not sure about your 2nd issue, but I would do a hard reset and start fresh.

Re: Verizon and 3G/EV and boot speed issues

I've had issue #2, though not as severe as you seem to. I've done a few registry tweaks to help out a bit. I don't remember all of them exactly, but they basically free up memory that TF3D is taking up to try and speed up programs, but I haven't noticed a difference. If you feel comfortable editing the registry, here are the two things I did to free up a lot of memory, and I believe they're both in the Tweaks sticky. Set ShareMemSize=0 under HKLM\Software\HTC\ResProxy. The other tweak is to disable PushInternet which causes Opera to constantly be running, along with disabling the "exclusive" mark on Opera so that it can be closed with the HTC Task Manager.

Re: Verizon and 3G/EV and boot speed issues

Thanks guys for your replies. I am back home and have a 3G connection (although earlier this morning, I was at home and only had a 1X connection. This is very strange...
