I'm a mile from the tower and my TP2 behaves exactly as you've described. I've tried all available CDMA WV radios so I'm guessing it's the norm. Currently using the latest VZW 2.23 WV radio.

Wow I guess I should update this.

Since upgrading to the 2.23 radio, I've had zero problems with getting stuck in 1X.

I've never had a problem being stuck in 1x. Manufacture date 31/Oct/2009 Stock 1.88 or 2.23 update.

I came back just to congratulate you. It was a long journey getting to where you're at, and a well deserved outcome.

I've had the current TP2 I'm using for months and it just started doing this yesterday. This is so inconvenient.

Re: Are you having trouble staying in 3G (getting stuck in 1X), VZW TP2 folks?

Man, I thought I would never find an answer for this. I have had the same exact problem, only my signal area is in the moderate zone. I get 2-3 bars on average. It has been doing this since day one. Basically, does the same as everyone else mentions. I will usually get 3G a little more than half the time.

Here is a rundown of how my signal usually sits. I don't know if you all are familiar with the FieldTrial app that is present within the Windows folder, but that is what I have been using to evaluate my signal. Normally, in the EVDO screen, the Rx Signal Strength will sit around 78 - 83. My EVDO has always been stronger than the 1x, dont know why. Sometimes it will switch to 1x , even when the signal seems good. The 1x will show a strength of around 85. But the times when it will NOT go to EVDO for the life of me, the Rx Signal Strength will show a whacked out number of "10428". No kidding. The weakest signal is 125 db... which means no signal. How it could show a value way off the scale like is is beyond me. I could do the same as you mentioned, soft reset, 228 .. no difference.

Sorry to have to ask this, but can someone post a link to the proper method of flashing the radio? I would appreciate it.

Re: Are you having trouble staying in 3G (getting stuck in 1X), VZW TP2 folks?

I really hate to dig up this old thread, but I'm in my 3rd day of being stuck in 1x. It only does it when I'm at home. If I go into town on a different tower, it goes back to an EV signal. My wife has an Incredible, and her phone stays on a 3g signal all the time, but yesterday her phone was stuck in 1x for a while only to return to 3g. I don't understand why her phone is 3g and mine is stuck in 1x. It did go back to a 3g signal for a little while last night, only to go back to 1x. I'm on the 2.23 radio. I just can't figure it out.

Are you running a custom rom?
Do you have the same results with the shipped rom?
