you have to add it as a DWORD with a value of 4- if you are using totalcommander I can give you specific instructions

Is there anything else you need to do in order to disable CMGuardian? I added the Dword "flags" with the value of 4, but every time I change the text below the start menu that says "Sprint", it goes right back to normal shortly thereafter.

Re: Registry change not sticking? (ForceCellConnection)

My USB tethering works fine, but when I try a Bluetooth tether, I get the 67 error.

Thoughts?

Thanks guys.

Re: Partial solution found

I tried setting HKLM\Services\CMGuardian Flags = 4. The key (and value obviously) didn't exist, so I created it. It didn't seem to work, on a soft reset, any time I go out from the registry, "Sprint" gets overridden by "Phone as Modem."

Then I thought that I'd try the DotFred version by turning off the service, however I don't see a service at all for the Guardian. I do see it running in active tasks and I can kill it, but it restarts on soft-reset. I'd like to "set it and forget it."

Anyone have any ideas on what to try next? I was running custom ROMs, but went back to the latest stock from HTC/Sprint recently. Maybe things have changed in this latest version?

Re: Registry change not sticking? (ForceCellConnection)

Tethering - tested and works

1 - using file explorer go to Windows\Start Menu\Programs - delete internect connection sharing

2 install - ICS_and_WModem_Fix cab

3. using a regedit program

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
Extension="" Delete the "isext.dll" entry

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings]
ForceCellConnection="Sprint"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
MaxCMCon=0

[HKLM\Services\CMGuardian]
Flags = 4 (it's a DWORD Value. if it doesn't exist. you need to create it)

4 - soft reset
5 - Start the Internet Sharing application.
6 - Select Sprint under type of connection.
7 - Hit Connect In the Internet Sharing application.
8 - Connect to the Laptop/PC via USB
9 - Done. No other applications needs to run on the PC/Laptop.
