Not going to happen with CDMA phones.

Why? Because when you are in a voice call, it switches back to 1xRTT mode, and that's solely for voice, text and back in the old days, SLOW data only. And if you want to have video call, that video data has to go through a dedicated data channel, AKA EvDO, and guess what, on CDMA, operating at both 1xRTT and EvDO at the SAME time is just not going to happen.

GSM on the other hand? Yeah they can but for some reason most US carriers got rid of them, neither they don't want you to do it, or they just don't want you to waste the resource of the network.

Hope I explained myself clear.

The US cell system is dramatically more expensive to build and maintain, because of the low population density nationwide. Raising it to enough bandwidth for people to be doing video calling would be prohibitively expensive. AT7T's systems is already suffering from all the iPhones
