HTC Touch Pro2 LED Notification Light issue (no 3rd party applications control it)

I posted a bit back regarding the LED notification light not flashing through 3rd party applications polling it (Messenger, mail programs, NueLED).

I contacted HTC and figured that it would just be a message that got ignored, but I figured I'd try anyway.

Well, get ignored it did not. After the first "Just do a soft reset" message and when I told them I'd done that AND done a hard reset, this is what they replied with:

New Response From [ Mark (North America Support (Customer Service)) ]Hello Nick,

We tested our Touch Pro 2 for this LED issue and ours does the same thing. It does not flash at all. We are going to escalate this issue up to our development group and hopefully get this resolved quickly. Please be patient with us while we get this resolved for you.

Please feel free to contact us again if you have any further questions. In order to help improve our service I’d like to invite you to take a survey at http://www.survey.htc.com/worldwide. Thank you for contacting HTC America Technical Support via e-mail.

It doesn't seem like a lot of people care much about this, but I know I do! I like that notification, so if anyone was interested in getting this back on track, there may be some hope!

Nick

When you go into Sounds and Notifications, under the program notification options there's one to "Flash light for:"

Unless it is for a specific set system event, the light does not flash.

If you try running NueLED, at no time does it flash the light.

And yes, I was quite surprised getting that response!!

Sigh.

Okay, further responses, "John" has picked up on the case and backtracked, now saying that my phone is faulty THEN saying that there's no option to choose the LED light settings on the phone. WTF? Really?

Sigh.

At this point, HTC ftl.

I posted screenshots SHOWING that option is there.

Oh, HTC. Oh poor, poor HTC.

Can someone else test this out as well, please? Maybe it is just my phone, it doesn't make sense as it works FINE for your system apps like text messages, but just not 3rd party.

Another bump, HTC support is being thick headed, telling me that I need to have my phone replace/repaired, even though the stupid light works for system events... Grr!

Re: HTC Touch Pro2 LED Notification Light issue (no 3rd party applications control it

Yeah.

Apparently this is a different guy. John is an *** and tells me that nope, my phone is broken. And I have custom icons installed, that's messed with the registry. Even if I want to do a hard reset and show it as is, it won't matter and I need to take the phone back to be repaired or replaced.

Like, really? How is there any logic to that? The lights work for system programs but not 3rd party applications, yet it's a hardware problem? Or the registry tweaks that the additional programs have made which would cause this, even AFTER a hard reset?

Which is why I would really like someone to be able to back this up.

Re: HTC Touch Pro2 LED Notification Light issue (no 3rd party applications control it

My TP2 Led only indicates charge status - otherwise it never makes a peep

My wifes LED flashes as I am used to (like the TP1). I have setup the phones identical to make things easier for me.

Not sure why one acts one way and the other different.
