Do carriers really let you resign the contract to get the better prices? This seems like it wouldn't work in the slightest bit.

It is in stores here in Boston. I guess it wouldn't hurt to call and explain that you are thinking of porting your number to another carrier and see if that gets them to give you contract price on the phone. Otherwise it is full price.

Actually - T-mobile offers a Partial upgrade price too. You will still have to renew your contract for 2 years from that day (it doesn't stack) but honestly - you'll only get around 100 bucks off the full retail price of the phone. So in a best case scenario you will get it for maybe around 450 instead. I've worked for several carriers and T-mo is the only I know of that does that. If you were closer to your contract expiring you might be able to convince Customer Service to get you an early upgrade, but if you are only around the 12 month mark it's probably not happening.
