WVGA app compatibility issues

I'm just doing some homework before picking a TP2 up from Telus tomorrow when I came across this particular subject and thought I'd ask....

Without getting into specific applications, generally speaking will most legacy 3rd party apps work with WVGA or should I expect to have display or compatibility issues?

Based on my experiences many VGA apps work but obv do not fill up the whole screen. Some VGA apps also will run but I noticed don't run smoothly like they would have on the Diamond's VGA screen for example. You're best bet is to search specifically for the WVGA version's of the apps you want or as a worst case scenario install the VGA version and deal with the extra blank space on the screen.
