How do I turn off the ActiveSync connect/disconnect sound on my PC?

It is incredibly loud and annoying lol. I am using Windows XP SP3 and ActiveSync 4.5. I've gone to Control Panel -> Sounds -> turned off the sounds for ActiveSync "Connect Confirm" and "Disconnect Confirm" but now I get the even more annoying PC beep instead. The notification sound for ActiveSync is also unchecked on my TP2. I tried muting the "SW Synth" from my PC Volume Control but that didn't work either

Any suggestions?

Device connect/disconnect sounds are likely playing. Probably does the same thing if you plug a USB flash drive, mouse, keyboard, or any other peripheral into your computer (or remove one)

Thanks for the suggestions...I just tested it with a USB flash drive and USB hard drive and neither make the sound. I rebooted my computer as well and it's still beeping when I plug in my TP2. Any other ideas?

Re: How do I turn off the ActiveSync connect/disconnect sound on my PC?

why not just mute your speakers via the speaker icon on your computer's icon tray (next to the clock)? but in the speaker/sounds option in your computer, you have to mute the midi volume. that sbhould take care of the sound. you'll have to un-mute on both options if you want to listen to music. there should be an advanced option in your sound setting where you can disable your computer's system notification...similar to your phone's sound options where you pick which program you want to hear notification sounds on.

This doesn't work either, unfortunately. In the OP I mentioned I have muted the "SW Synth" in my PC Volume Control, with no success. And muting before connecting/disconnecting is not really practical.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far anyway, I really appreciate it. Hopefully someone else has a solution?

Smile Re: How do I turn off the ActiveSync connect/disconnect sound on my PC?

Start/>
Control panel/>
Sounds and Audio Devices/>

click on "SOUNDS" tab and then in the "PROGRAM EVENTS" section scroll down to
"Microsoft Active Sync" - (1) Connect confirm and (2) Disconnect confirm

select (1) and click the SOUND drop list and click on (None). do the same with (2) and then click OK

That's all. Problem fixed, I was annoyed by the stupid thing also. You can also choose a different sound for each (1) and (2)
