Outgoing Charter mail from HTC Touch Pro 2

I added my charter email account to my phone, but I am only able to receive and not send emails. When I try sending I get a message, "The message could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct." I have the outgoing (SMTP) mail server set up as smtp.charter.net:25 and have checked the boxes requiring SSL for both Incoming and Outgoing email.

Because you are on another ISP when using wireless you need to use the appropraite settings as shwon here:

Email Settings and Web Sites - Charter Communications

These are the general settings for Charter’s Mobile Email.
You will need the following information to allow your Smartphone to connect to mobile.charter.net.
Username: username@charter.net
Note: Make sure you enter @charter.net after your username or you will be unable to login.
Password: The password you use to login to your email account
SSL: This setting should be on for both SMTP and IMAP

SMTP: mobile.charter.net
  • Port 587
  • Note: If you cannot specify a port on your device - try mobile.charter.net:587

Thumbs up Re: Outgoing Charter mail from HTC Touch Pro 2

scrosler beat me to it, but I spent literally days looking for this information when I first got the phone. Charter changed their policy not long after.
