Volume locked at OFF ???

For some reason my phone is stuck in ringer off vibrate mode. (system volume is unaffected)

when I volume up it starts at the bottom and goes up all the way to the top

but as soon as the screen goes away its at zero again. I know this cause it won't ring (just vibrates) and when I try to up the volume again it once again starts at OFF and goes up.

rebooting had zero impact. when I go into sound and display it says its in normal mode and volume is at 100%

suggestions? I have made NO changes in the last week no new software no settings changes no crashes no strange behavior. running stock 6.5 with cht 2 and wimospeed and thats about it. its otherwise been a very well behaved device.

Volume in phone calls is unaffected. just ringer and system volume are set to off for some reason.

Now if I switch to "single volume" it seems to stop doing this and its fine. heck let me try switching back to individual volume and see what it does

No joy system volume 100% Ringer volume stuck at 0% goes up if I command but immediately goes back to 0% once it goes away.

suggestions?

On a hunch I had someone call me.

seems does not matter if I am single volume or not ringer is still 0% and it just vibrates.

I have no idea what to do now. suggestions?

also ringer for TEXT message plays fine. ONLY call ringers appear disabled.

Grrrr so annoying. I spent the last 90 minutes playing with it and searching before finally giving up and posting and I JUST fixed it.


RING TYPE was set to vibrate only. How does that happen? I sure as heck did not set that

Hmmm what is wrong with 6.5 and cht 2 ?

my tp2 has always beena wee sluggish (much better with wimospeed) but its never been unstable for the most part. never crashed. when clean ram can't keep me over 45mb I reboot (4-6 days usually 1-3 if I use it heavily)

suggestions?

my only issue is cht still "clones" quicklinks. no where near as bad but still a couple times a week

stock 6.5:
unstable
RAM leak within hours (especially before cleanup)
plagued with SOD
SMS hangs even after 1st message (in other roms it stops after 1st message)
and many other bugs todavia por descubrir.

CHT:
uses wayyy too much RAM even at startup.

Hmm never encountered a stability problem - ever. I have 3 on sprint and 1 on tmobile (not activated but I use it as a pda sometimes to keep the battery good)

no stability problems AT ALL.

it DEFINATELY has a ram leak and cleanram can only do so much. I boot up with around 90mb free and in a few hours I am below 60mb free. 2-4 days below 55mb after 4-6 days it gets close to 45mb time for a reboot as it gets sluggish below 45mb - if I use it hard core (lots of slacker google garmin etc.. I have to reboot once a day not a big deal)

CHT is not that much of a pig and I don't mind it as the pleasantness of the interface more than offsets its ram usage.

what is an SOD? never had one I assume or I would know what it is??

SMS hangs? not on mine. granted I don't text much (few hundred a month) but its never done anything hinky on me. sends fine receives fine.

CHT is annoying lately with its quicklink cloning though

ALTHOUGH my sisters TP2 (same 6.5) does randomly put itself in airplane mode for some reason. not sure why have not had a chance to go through her unit to see if she installed something causing the problem as neither of mine do that.

any suggestions for improving stability?
