hey guys, i have a problem with one of the quick links or whatever they call the 9 shortcuts on my homepage it is blank and won't let me put anything in there, i can click it and select a contact or program or whatever but it just goes back to the main screen and the link is still empty anyone had this happen before? any suggestions? it happened when i went into marketplace and it prompted updates for facebook and fb instant messenger programs and i selected to do both i think it did the one but download progress stopped for the other when it prompted to complete by restarting the device so i did that but the link that previously had facebook in it was blank and never let me put that or anything else in there i even tried uninstalling facebook and reinstalling it but no dice.

What do you have in the registry under ?

All of the quicklinks are defined there going from 0-8 if using 9. 0 is the top left one if I remember correctly. You need to have the 0-8 even if they don't actually point to a program in order to be able to add anything to them (at least I think...:) ).

I appreciate the tip, but forgive me, do I need some kind of registry editor app or something to check or edit my registry?

This is the exact problem I posted about a couple days ago. See my thread on "strange quick link behavior". I have checked my reistry under manila\home and I have 1-8 no zero. Any ideas how to fix so I can setup the first quicklink. At this point, nothing sticks there...

I downloaded a registry editor and looked up what you recommended and sure enough I am missing number three. I will try to play with that and add three, but I'm a little unsure exactly how to do that and not screw it up. Do you know how I do that? Thanks for the help!

GOT IT! THANKS! I just copied and pasted one of the other numbers on that screen in my editor and changed it to a three, reset the phone and it worked! Give it a try rbyham.
