Can I leave stock Sprint Radio Alone when Changing ROM?

I am running stock 6.5 with the 2.32.00WF. I have rather cold feet about trying a new ROM, but might take a chance if I do not have to mess with the radio. if I read things right, I believe with this radio I need do nothing for the radio when installing a new ROM?

Thus, the main steps would be to use the ROM unlocker and put the renamed ROM on the top level of the storage card, reboot, and hope for the best.

Thanks for the hand holding. The stock 6.5 ROM is unstable and I have to reload the system every few days from backup.

the radio is not touched when flashing a rom

make sure to rename the signed_RUU.nbh to RHODIUM (make sure it's not RHODIUM.nbh.nbh) pull the battery, put it back in, vol down and power...bootloader and will flash on it's own

wow someone with 348 posts posted this in the upgrade section? interesting but yeah the only roms that flash radios with them are stock ROMS and the kitchens do include an option where one can include a radio with the rom but cooks rarely ever do that, they can tho if they choose but i've never had that happen across all the roms i flashed. the cooked roms ill recommend are:

best stability, RAM and multitasking at the cost of eye candy: Sprint basics 6.1 rom (build 21057)

balanced stability,RAM and multitasking:
Lead ROM (6.5.21916), userROM (also 21916)

best eye candy but at the cost of RAM stability and multitasking:
energy ROM or any other 6.5.x rom, especially those with CHT

Depends on the ROM.
First splashes, radios can be easily added or removed from ruu_signed.nbh.
Usually radios removed from the custom ROM

I appreciate you all dragging me through this.

Energy.RHODCDMA.21916.Sense2.5.Cookie.2.0.Dec.20

Is what I will give a try. Guess if I brick the phone I can use my wife's.

there is no need to mess with the radio. to flash via sd you need to rename the .nbh to rhodimg.nbh. if you have any questions feel free to shoot me a pm

Thanks, sent a PM, but this is the situation:

After following instructions I get the multi-colored boot screen and it seems to say that the bootloader is unlocked correctly. But it does not flash he file on the root location of the SD card. I still have the old ROM. I waited 1/2h for something to happen.

The instructions say to name it: RHODIMG.nbh and this is a copy of the name from the finder: RHODIMG.nbh.

If I push vol down and power, the lines read:

RHOD400 32M SS-BC
SPL-1.00.01iNex... so I think that is correct

I noticed that when it comes up there is a brief blanking of the screen, so maybe the .nbh file is bad.

Ideas? Am downloading another .nbh file, but I think I must be missing something obvious.

BTW card is 8GB FAT32.

Can you flash from a PC through USB?

Your sd card may be too large to flash from. It should be 2gb or less.

Re: Can I leave stock Sprint Radio Alone when Changing ROM?

I can flash through USB. Instructions somewhere? I assume you use the file (ROMupdate Utility) in the folder downloaded: Energy.RHODCDMA.21916.Sense2.5.Cookie.2.0.Dec.20.

When I did that and followed the instructions, I got: ERROR[260]: CONNECTION

I then tried:

Energy.RHODCDMA.28244.Sense2.5.Cookie.2.0.Dec.20

And it looks like it worked!

Thanks everyone... realize you have probably created a monster here.
