WTF?? Touch screen not working once slid out???

Ok so I have tried a bunch of different roms and its doing the same thing with all of them.

When I goto reply to a text message and I slide out the keyboard it wont let me touch in the text box to then start typing. Anywhere I touch on the screen it only wants to press the bottom 2 buttons on the screen the back and menu buttons.

Its a really weird problem and I have tried task 29 and everything. Anyone have this problem and know a solution?

Wirelessly posted (htc Pocket PC: Opera/9.5 (Microsoft Windows; PPC; Opera Mobi/15954; U; en))

Have you tried flashing the shipped rom?
Try that and if you still have the same problem you have a hardware problem.

Re: WTF?? Touch screen not working once slid out???

As horndoctor stated, you may have a hardware issue.

The slide out function, as with many slide phones, consists of a flex/ribbon cable connecting the digitizer/lcd to the main board. This flex/ribbon may be loose and thus hinders your touch functionality when slid out.

Got insurance? Take it in and advise of what's happening. They may just want to replace it.

You can try to seat the flex/ribbon yourself, but would need a Torx6 screw driver. Undo the 4 screws under the battery cover. The speaker comes off first (at the top), jimmy the remainder of the case, bottom of the keyboard side first. You'll see the board, looking down on the phone, lift from the right hand side. Now you'll see the flex/ribbon, just make sure that it's seated well. Good luck.
