Facebook Places on TP2?

Has anyone had success using Places on FB on their TP2? I'm doing what it says... logging on from touch.facebook.com. It gives me the option to share my location... then doesn't do anything. I have my location settings all on... just doesn't do anything... anyone else?

to do it they need a html 5 capable browser. if you're using opera mini try opera mobile. or try skyfire. remember you need to both enable it and the check in. on mine getting to the right page was clunky. must get to touch.facebook.com/places and set it, then go to privacy settings and make sure people can see it, then touch.facebook.com again on the right browser and the check in option is right at the top.

Yup... using opera mobile... even tried skyfire. I went in to places, but I see nothing to "set". Then I go back to the main page, on the right of the browser, all it says is "places" then I click that... then it tells me to share where I am with friends... I click on that... and the screen just is white... nothing going on. What am I missing?

Well shi... I thought clicking that updated your place and that was the end of it. But I checked and it doesn't. Then I tried in the other browsers and no luck there either. I took it one step further and saved the entire check-in web page, javascript and all, then copied it to my phone, and tried to open it locally. No good. So I uploaded it to a server and tried to open it from there. I can see the big checkin button but clicking it in opera gets me "your browser doesn't support html 5 geolocation". Clicking it in skyfire produces nothing at all.

I guess it's hosed. Sorry, I thought it was working for me but I don't think it's working for anyone.

If you install one of the Four Square apps you can send your location to Facebook that way. You can download WinMoSquare from the Market Place, or MySquare from here...

MySquare :: Rising Mobility

You'll also need to first sign up with Four Square...

Maybe Iris Browser as it is webkit based?

Re: Facebook Places on TP2?

Iris didn't work for me.

The only thing that worked was using the Foursquare application as a daisy-chain. Basically, you have to sign up for the Foursquare app WinMoSquare, then make sure you are signed out of everything else (Facebook or whatever even on your phone) then, using the settings page on the Desktop interface of Foursquare, you link the two accounts. After that, you make sure it is okay for Foursquare to send your "check-ins" or whatever you want. The fine print DOES say that Facebook only lets 10 messages to FB from a third party app like Foursquare per day. So, I only opted for the "check-ins"

Incidentally, I tried just linking without signing out and all that nonsense, and it didn't work. It might also be that it took a little while for the two accounts to link (due to propagating across networks or whatever).

I thought that maybe Iris would work if we soft reset first, just in case the GPS (which I have been told only works with the first app that accesses the information) had to be reset. But no dice. It just kept saying "Your location not found" or some such.

I tried using all the different ways to access FB through my phone, and nothing else worked, but this Foursquare/WinMoSquare (downloaded and installed through Windows Marketplace FOR FREE) to Facebook fix.

Hope this helps...
