Is there an app to purge older texts?
 

I used to have a Treo 800w and it had an option to purge old text messages (1 week, 2 weeks, 1 month), whatever you specify. It helps delete old messages and speed up the text. Is there something like that I can add on to the TP2??

What I've been doing is unthreading the texts, reboot the phone, and manually delete the older texts, then put it back to threaded.

Just go into tools and hit clear mms/sms.

I don't see that in Tools, do you have a CAB for that?

You can use this application and set a date. Every text before the date you select will be deleted.

Are you running 6.5? You should be able to hit your text tab, then all messages, then menu, then tools, and it should be there. I don't think it will be an option prior to 6.5. I may be though, I just don't remember.

it defeats what i'm trying to do. i'm only trying to delete older messages...

i'm running mightyrom. the app posted isn't working. it's loading and purging something, but when i go to my sms inbox it's still there.

As someone who texts a lot, this is one of the main reasons why I switched over to Android on the TP2. WinMo would bog down to a crawl about twice a week on me. And waiting for clear sms to finish while in mid conversation with someone is such a pain. How can they not have something like this built in like nearly every other phone? The slowdown is unbearable...
