HTC messaging problems

I recently flashed back to the stock USC rom after doing my first custom rom and now the HTC messaging doesn't work right. I restored my old text messages and they show up on the messages tab but new messages to not show up there, I get the same notifications as normal for new messages and the annoying message sent notification though.
The short question is is there some way to enable the HTC messaging so the messages tab work the way it should?

Thanks for helping a noob

Re: HTC messaging problems

I didn't hard reset the custom rom before I flashed back the stock rom, my back up restore didn't take the first time and I hard reset the stock then redid the backup.
Is there a step I missed in the process or is this indicative of a error in the flashing of the stock rom?

Re: HTC messaging problems

Did you try to use a backup from one ROM to a different ROM? This tends to cause a lot of problems.... Depending on what you mean by "backup"...

Re: HTC messaging problems

Yeah ^^ what he said, also it's just best known to hard reset once you flash to a rom and usually most people flash to stock first anyways... stock/hard reset/custom/hard reset than play =) that's how I always do it and I never have any issues. And when flashing back to stock i hard reset first than to stock than hard reset than good to go...

Re: HTC messaging problems

Sorry I should have been more specific about what I meant by "Backup", I used SPB Backup to restore my contacts, messages and programs.
So To try and fix this should hard reset the phone, flash the stock rom to the phone, then hard reset again, and then restore my data?

The problem is probably in the restore process. It tends to bring over reg keys from the other ROM and it messes with the registry, thus creating problems. Especially reg keys for Sense... You can use MyPhone to backup/restore contacts/texts. then XDA_UC or Sashimi to reinstall programs...

*EDIT

You could try the flash dance (Flash stock ROM, flash ROM of choice (unless your staying stock), then hard reset)

OR

you could use task29 to clear everything and flash the stock ROM and then hard reset.
