.5" scratch on my touch screen. Fixes?

I've got an htc touch pro2 with a plastic touch screen and there's a half inch long very shallow scratch on the screen, but deep enough to make it visible when the screen displays white (it sort of distorts the red-green-blue under the scratch). Is there any type of plastic repair product that can be used to buff this out? I ordered a case and screen protector but I'd like to get rid of this scratch before putting it on.

displex is a common plastic repair, but i've heard it doesn't work on resistive screens. It seems like you might have to replace the faceplate?

You could go on ebay and buy a new digitizer and replace it yourself, or if you have insurance, take it to a Sprint Repair center. They might do it for free if you have insurance ..or at least the $50 deductible

The plastic protector you add should minimize the appearance of the scratch. After cleaning the screen and applying the screen protector, re-evaluate the screen after a few days. It sometimes takes a day or two for a screen protector to "settle down." I'm making a wild guess, but perhaps a screen protector with mild adhesive backing rather than one that simply uses static cling will work better to minimize the appearance of the scratch.

Good luck!
