storing PIN with voicemail speed dial

Stock Sprint WM6.5 ROM.

How can I get the voice mail speed dial entry (Key 1) to keep the voice mail PIN, associated pauses and # key press? I was able to do it on my previous Palm devices, but when I try to edit the "1" key speed dial assignment, it takes me to the phone options screen. I append ",,,,XXXX#" to the Voice Mail Number but it does not accept it.

under phone settings, phone tab, there is a CDMA settings box labeled "Voicemail:"
in there I have put *86ppXXXX#
XXXX is your pin of course.

also i read that you can go to
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Vmail\UserProvidedNumber\
and set that to "*86xxxx"
also if your vm requires you to put a # at the end you can put that in there as well. i know vzw requires it. not sure about sprint.
edit: also i should say that i couldnt get this to work for me.

Yes, but in my case I don't care about entering a pin for voice mail.
I like being able to listen to my voice mail without trying to use the keypad. I don't get any messages of any importance anyway.
I guess if needed I could lock my phone for privacy.

Go to Settings > All Settings (left shoulder button) > Personal Tab > Phone

At the bottom bottom of the screen is a Voicemail box. I just added a p1111 after the *86 and when I call my voicemail, it waits a moment and then enters the pin. I've been doing this for my last 3 phones and it's worked great for me (my pin is not 1111 by the way).

I actually have a number in my address book that calls my office voicemail, pauses (p) enters my extension + #, pauses, enters my pin + #, then hits 3 to go to new messages. The numbers looks like

800.111.1111 p 1111# p 1111# p 3

Looks strange but works like a charm, especially useful with a bluetooth headset since I can check for new messages without touching the phone.

Why dont you just change the options in your VM to not require a pin?

Main Menu
Option 3
Option 1
