don't forget around the time of the press release for the EVO sprint announced upcoming markets they planned to have running by years end- this definitely included los angeles

I watched a CNN video on their site regarding WiMax deployment by Sprint.
Seems like it is an easier job than 3G deployment.
Basically strap it on existing 3g towers.
Or else the overall footprint of the WiMax equipment is not much bigger than the size of the avg. home network's.

Which make believe, that Sprint's 4G goals will be quite possible.

LTE 4g is suppose to be rolling out for big red by the end of the year as well.

From what I have gleaned reading various reports, VZW's LTE will be very limited to a handful of markets by year end. Kind of what WiMax looks like the prior 2-3 years for Sprint.
Otherwise, WiMax continues to be cheaper & more flexible to deploy.

I didn't expect to go overseas but I bought a world phone .... I am going back and forth on Android, but I don't doubt I will get the Evo anyway. Phones are my only addiction.

I will still get the Evo because of the hardware specs. I can use wifi at home or at a hot spot until 4g hits the Boston/Providence area. I have family in Philly which already has 4g so I can use it when I go visit them. I just hope Sprint gives it a reasonable price ($200) like TMo did with the HD2 (Which I am also planning on getting).

I'm in Baltimore so I'm good anyway, but i'd still get it. 3g suits me just fine.

Yeah im in Washington DC so we will have 4G soon enough. But either way the EVO is an amazing phone and has actually managed to steal me away from Windows Mobile, so im getting regardless. The 4G is really only a perk.
