Unhappy Did Not Hard Reset Before Flashing to 6.5 , Reason for RAM leak?!?

iRemember When the 6.5 Rom was released , iUpgraded and totally forgot to Hard Rest before.. Now could this be the reason im loosing/Using so much ram..

Currently Running CDMA *S3-ROM r12* *WM6.5(21901.5.0.92)* *HTC Sense 2.5* ROM.

this is how much ROM im getting while all apps are closed. (Pictured Below)

This is how much Total to Inuse too FREE ? (Pictured Below)

The LOWEST % Of RAM iSaw was After running ClearTemp , And CleanRAM Right After on Setting 3 And Got To 69 % .....

Can Anyone Help me Get Lower % of Ram !!!! Ill Hardreset Whatever , Just want it to run to its top Speed.......AND STILL RUN SENSE 2.5/WM6.5

THANKS!!!!

Do you mean hard reset AFTER the 6.5 flash? I don't see why you would need to do it beforehand.

It helps a lot to hard reset before upgrading. However it isn't going to help with the low RAM issue. 6.5 + Sense 2.5 just use up more memory. The highest I've gotten it is a little over 80mb free after a soft reset. How many programs do you plan on running at the same time anyway? Should be fine without running out.

Well funny thing after a soft reset , i saw i booted up with 62% and now running on 64% with no programs running .

I dont usually run alot of programs 2gether. its mostly opera 10 , text here and there check email. iJust want to utilize all the possilbe RAM i can to maintain it running top noche.

Well, in a way, having more RAM in use is what keeps you running top notch. Unused RAM is wasted RAM. It doesn't make anything go faster when it isn't being used. The less free memory you have, the more you are utilizing. If you aren't running out, then you don't have a problem.

If you really need more free RAM there are some ROMs that use less.

It might be S3's rom. I have the 4/21/10 release and I have the same issue. I just use clean ram every couple of hours to reset the 'leak'. I did not have this issue with some of the other roms or atleast it was as obvious.

Re: Did Not Hard Reset Before Flashing to 6.5 , Reason for RAM leak?!?

It's really a mix between Windows Mobile and Sense UI...and maybe some bad programming with the apps. Every phone I've owned that is a smart phone has had memory leaks, BB Storm, TP1, and now the TP2...Not sure why this can't be handled by developers...but its been an ongoing issue. Now so far Android OS seems to be less memory intensive..and that is why I will be moving to it here in the near future. I've seen android phones boot with 110-115mb free, vs 80 or less with a windows mobile device. It's just been going on to long for me, and its time to change.

Re: Did Not Hard Reset Before Flashing to 6.5 , Reason for RAM leak?!?

are you running opera off your device?? i run opera and skyfire off my card, doesnt affect things as much.. make sure your push internet has been killed and just not turned off in settings.. thats like 8-10mbs to free up right there too... also, almost everything can be ran off your sd card... i suggest going through and installing only the absolute neccessities on your device and moving as much as possible over to your card

Re: Did Not Hard Reset Before Flashing to 6.5 , Reason for RAM leak?!?

i had the same problem.... here is couple things that might help out.

1. yes, do hard reset . (after i flash i HR 5! times. just to be sure no files from previous ROM werent left in phone)

2. if ur using Microsoft My Phone to back up.. for some reason it backs up everything to ur phone and u loose memory.

3.use a RegEdit program and go to user/ software/ and any program folder that u see that u have uninstalled from ur phone, if its still there, delete it... it takes up memory.

4. use HD tweak app, and go to the part where it says "this will speed up performance (or something like that) but at a cost of memory.

5. use clean RAM app. update to latest. go to exeptions list and add manila.exe then press ok, then select full clean (the last option to clean the fullest)

6. uninstall what u dont use.

thats all i can thiunk of now.. see if it heplt u out.
