Question about Resco task manager

ok this may sound like a silly question, but here it comes.
Using the resco manager, I am trying to track the use of memory on my phone.

It says 50 M (of 183M).
Does htis mean 50 M are being used or 50M are free?
thanks

It means 50Mb's (of 233Mb's) is free, and 183Mb's are in use.

Re: Question about Resco task manager

thanks, makes sense.
I thought that we only have 183 M of memory anyways and not 233 M.

So here is a follow up?
I am trying to free up some memory and I have few processes (not apps) using a lot of memory:

1) device.exe -->10.5 M unknown
2) crprog.exe --> 9.62 M unknown
3) Mobileshell.exe -->8.22 this i know
4) filesys.exe --.7.17 M unknown
5) services.exe -->5.35 M unknown
6) gwes.exe -->5.22 M unknown

and many more with smaller usage of memory

Are these all absolutely necessary for the system or I can eliminate some?
thanks

Re: Question about Resco task manager

all of those are necessary except mobileshell, but since you are most likely running mobile shell you don't want to end that task. For the most part the processes you see running will be necessary, unless its a program you currently have open.

If you are not using bluetooth you can remove bttrayce.exe. repllog.exe is for active sync. If you have both manilla.exe and mobileshell.exe delete whichever you are not using. beyond that you should leave it alone.

It means that 50 is free out of a total of 183. 183 - 50 = 133 is in use.

You'll see the same numbers if you go to Settings - System - Memory.

Re: Question about Resco task manager

My sprint tp2 has 288MB's of ram. I don't know what verizon's ram is. but according to phonearena.com its the same (288 MB RAM).

yeah hes right, I was confusing the usable memory with the total ram. and the total ram isn't 233 anyway its 288.

Maybe the verizon roms gives you more available memory, but each OS takes up a different amount of RAM. All devices come with the same amount but some is specifically reserved for the OS.
