Are you trying to encrypt the storage card?

nope, just a simple password that needed only when I insert the microsd to my phone or to any other phone.

The reason is that I have personal documents there and if i loose my phone I want at least to make it hard for somebody to get access to these docs.

thanks

BTW if i encrypt the whole microsd and want to say open a file, do i have to decrypt it every time?

and which one is better the HTC factory installed encryption or the resco file explorer encryption option?

thanks

Use Sprite Terminator You can send your phone a text and wipe it clean.

the factory installed option doesnt lock it while its in the phone. only encrypts it so the sd card cant be read on other devices.

Yes, this may be a solution. I use Sprite backup and it works fine. If I use the simple PIN that would delay anyone enough for me to clobber the phone.

I have cleaned any really dangerous data off the phone (my contacts from Outlook) but you can always miss something.

I don't have anything on the storage card, but you can encrypt it from the system settings. I wonder if this slows things down. Now thinking of it, that is where the backups are, so it does warrent encryption....

I have gotten really paranoid about security listening to the Security Now Podcast, which is really excellent. If you listen to this, you will never look at Java the same way.

yeah the encryption program is rally a pain because you have to decrypt a file every time you wanna use it.

Just a simple password program, that will work with out prompting to type the password if the card is normally in your phone, but if you plug the storage card in another phone to ask you for that password.
I read somewhere a Nokia phone will do that.

thanks

id like to be able to do specific files on the storage card. like if i swap a storage card, and loose it, i dont really need to encrypt a clock cab. but my school and work documents would be nice to protect.
