if you are using Vista or windows 7, right click on the installer and try selecting "Run as Administrator"

Thanks for your reply No, I'm using XP. I called Sprint and they say it's a known issue and you have to bring it into a store, but I'm thinking it must be some setting I need to change. Has anyone successfully installed using XP. I'm doing this on a virtual machine but I don't think it should matter.

Yes. I installed from my laptop, running Window XP, Service Pack 3. Just followed the directions on the HTC website, and all went smoothly.

Maybe you need to reboot your pc. I have XP with active Sync 4.5. and 6.5 went up not problems

I have rebooted twice. Maybe three's a charm. I'll try again. Any special settings for Active Sync? I have it to sync via USB and it works for everything else. It just disconnects when it starts the update.

No luck. Looks like I will have to have Sprint do it. Is there any other way to do this? I have a mac.
