ghost email ?
 

i just used synced my google contacts with active sync so i can use my contacts with android and then once it was finished

i had 1 new email message thing and i cant clear it because i have no accounts on the device ?

i have the same problem caused by the same scenario, i tried the fixunreadcount.exe found on the forums, but to no avail. lookin for a solution

I have same problem have not found what is causing it, but with a reg edit i can get rid of it, but it comes back after a soft reset or checking an email account and I have to change reg each time. Here is what I change:

HKCU-->system-->state-->messages-->totalemail-->unread, and change count value to 0.

If you didn't sync the email along with the contacts, then that's where the ghost email is.
Use activsync and check the box to synch email along with your contacts etc. Then go into the email and delete the email sent by Microsoft. Then go back to Activsync and uncheck emails.
It will delete the email connection but keep your contacts etc.
