Restoring Contacts using pim

I wanted to try test the pim.vol file procedure for restoring contacts, so using total commander, i copied the pim file to my sd card then cleared storage then once the phone rebooted i copied the pim file back to the phone. went to see if my contacts were there....nothin.

What am i doing wrong?

Re: Restoring Contacts using pim

When you copied the original pim file back from your sd card, did you rename the one the system creates?

When i have done this procedure the phone automatically creates a pim file when you clear storage you have to rename that one pim1.vol then copy your original one in, soft reset. then delete the one you renamed pim1. and all your info should be back to normal.

Re: Restoring Contacts using pim

ive never had good luck with doing it this way, never works, or if your flashing between roms, usually have some sort of corruption.

I would suggest pim backup http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299705 if your on windows 6.1 and microsoft myphone if your on 6.5

For pimbackup, make sure you put the phone into airplane mode before you restore.
