USB connection problem

Was working fine and then all of a sudden...

The USB to the phone connection has gone squirrley.

It knows it's connected, when you plug it in the amber light blinks, and the screen turns on, and then the amber light goes out, while still plugged in.

The battery meter shows no charge. Same on all USB cables.

Anyone know if this is a fixable issue or if the USB connection is shot?

Re: USB connection problem

Well, I tried a bunch o' crud, and eventually had to hard reset it and uninstall and reinstall activesync. Now it charges and syncs again.

Odd that

Re: USB connection problem

and the other half it is just a weird Active Sync thing. When I had this issue while running XP I would typically uninstall/reinstall ActiveSync and behavior would return to normal. I do not have these issues with WMDC.

Re: USB connection problem

I tried to connect to activestink for almost an hour last night. reset device, turned PC on and off. What a farkin' nightmare.

Finally, I unplugged it from one USB port and put it in another and voila it all worked. It may be, like in my case, the USB port is being persnickety. Try another port. If you have more than one to try.

This is the boot sequence I had:

1. Turn on computer, let it start up
2. Plug in USB cable into port
3. Plugged device into other end of USB sync cable.
4. Activestink automatically (sometimes) starts. Otherwise, start it manually and see if the device is recognized.

I tried all that, I've had a Palm device for years, and prior to that a REX (ahh the memories), and know how to jack it a round a bit.

The odd thing was, besides not being seen by active sync, it wouldn't charge. It would recognize something was plugged in, but the amber light would blink, and then turn off, and the charge indicator read "1", which it reads when the device is unplugged

That means your USB port doesn't trickle enough power for the TP2. I had this issue when I was using WM 6.1 amazingly that seems to have disappeared with 6.5
