Help with e-mail setup on 6.5

I had no problems setting up my home e-mail on 6.1, but now that i switched to 6.5 i cant get it going. I put all the information in the same and it says synchronizing but never does anything. Before i didnt use activesync but now it seems there is no alternative. All i need to do is check e-mail, no need for syncing of contacts etc...

Re: Help with e-mail setup on 6.5

This is only applicable if this is for a Pop account:

MS has NEVER fixed this and I don't kow why. It's been broken for ages and numerous ROM versions.

When you go through the wizard and you enter (for example) YOURNAME@YAHOO.COM, it assumes you want imap rather than pop. NO CLUE WHY.

So, what you have to do (and again, I'm assuming you've got a pop account). You have to:

1. select "Other email type" when you set up your email account
2. DO NOT ENTER YOURNAME@YAHOO.COM It will automatically set you up for Imap. Instead enter YOURNAME@YAHO.COM or something else, you'll change this later.
3. Make sure that you enter all the other information normally like password and whether this is using an SSL connection or whatever.
4. Change the email address after you have everything set up to your correct YOURNAME@YAHOO.COM.

Should work after that.

No clue why it always defaults to imap rather than pop but it does if you let it.
