Simple TP2 dialer question

Please excuse my ignorance:
In the dialer you see recently called numbers - If you tap on one of them you dial it. But how do I just select one so I can use the menu to open up the related contact? With the original TP I had used the dpad to move the selection down - but without the dpad on the TP2 I don't know how to do it.:???:

Tap on what looks like a file card on the right to open the contact details.

Thanks. I'll use that. But I'm still curious how to just change the selected number so the menu soft key can be used.
