My phone forgot its own password!

I was browsing the web on my phone last night, and things were getting a bit slow, so I rebooted it. I entered my password and SIM PIN, and Opera immediately crashed, multiple times, so I rebooted the phone again. This time, I entered my password, and it's just not accepting it!

I'm sure I've read about a similar known issue, most likely on here, but I can't find it anywhere! It might've been a problem with the Diamond though, can't remember.

Does anyone have any suggestions other than the obvious hard reset? I'm hoping that it reverts back to a known password or something! This just had to happen about an hour after I reformatted my Windows (7 RC) partition expecting to have a licensed copy, which now won't be delivered until Friday! In the meantime, I have no phone

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Alex

Re: My phone forgot its own password!

I had something similar happen to me this morning. I did a soft reset and it wouldn't take my passcode. I tried 7 of the 8 tries it gives you and then did another soft reset. This time it popped up that it needed a SIM card inserted, which US Cellular doesn't use! After messing with it doing soft resets and power downs, it finally got back to semi normal, although I lost EVERYTHING It even wiped all of the pics off of my memory card! Sorry I know that doesn't help your (or my) problem, but it feels a little better getting it out there...

Re: My phone forgot its own password!

I had a similar problem after installing a screen keyboard just a few days ago... Sorry to say it... but I had to Reset.
And I had not backed up all my data.
Sucks!!! But at least my phone runs a little smoother and I was able to omit the programs I wasn't using anyway. Now EVERYTHING gets backed up regularly... Even the memory card which is where my backus go. lol.

Re: My phone forgot its own password!

check with your carrier, Sprint has a program that will read device passcodes, not sure if any other carriers have the same thing

Re: My phone forgot its own password!

Same thing happened to me once...I ended up hard resetting and getting over it. I keep data backed up daily via PPCPIMBackup, so no worries about that....

Nope mine was stock except for a couple cabs. (flip clock fix, 1unreadtext, and I think thats about it) I stopped by the main US Cellular shop in town and talked to one of the guys. It was pretty busy so he didnt even look at the phone, but more or less told me that there wasnt much they could do since they didnt get to experience the problem themselves. I can understand the phone resetting itself back to stock like a hard reset, but how could that totally wipe out the memory card as well? Makes me think I may have a virus or something on it. Is there a way to check into that?

Re: My phone forgot its own password!

Mine's the stock WM 6.5, and I don't even have any software installed on there that didn't come with it! Unfortunately, I bought the phone SIM-free, since my carrier doesn't offer it, so I doubt they could do anything to help even if they wanted to.
