No Defaullt Mail Client

"Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client."

I get this error message when I connect to WMDC using a USB. I am running Windows 7 64 bit and WMDC 6.1.6965. It has, however, been happening since Windows 7 pre-Beta Build 6956. It has happened every time I connect my phone to my PC for both my Touch Pro and Touch Pro2.

Has anyone seen this message before? Solution?

Well, let's start at the beginning and gets some more info:

Do you have Microsoft Office installed on your PC?

Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010

I may have found a lead. I tried to make sure my copy was validated and got this message:

Problem: No Office products eligible for validation were found on this computer. This may be due to one of the following:
  • The version of Office installed on this computer is earlier than Office XP.
  • There are currently no Office applications installed on this computer.
  • The version of Office you are using is hosted on another computer or a terminal server. Read more about this in the FAQ.
Solution: Purchase genuine Microsoft Office with a new computer, or from a retailer or software reseller near you. Learn more about how you can buy Microsoft Office.

Yes indeed you've got a very strong lead! This is the core problem you are having...How did you get Office 2010(pre-installed on a new PC, retail purchase, etc.)?

Well allow me to be a fortune teller you for tomorrow...."You will be having a conversation with the VP of IS" and he will hopefully have insight into this dilemma.

Re: No Defaullt Mail Client

The issue is that Office 2010 hasn't been released yet, which is why it fails on the validation portion at this time for you. I'll try to replicate the issue tomorrow in a VMware session with Office 2010 Beta and let you know what my results are.

Re: No Defaullt Mail Client

OK. We've been off the Beta for about a month or so now but the issue has been there all along with each release. I think that he'll have to get on the phone tomorrow.
