Total Newb

Ok this might be a dumb question to ask but I have to ask it.

I have a Telus HTC Touch Pro 2 with Windows Mobile 6.1 on it. I am very interested in the MightyROM but it says its Windows Mobile 6.5.

What I'd like to know is can I still use the 6.5 ROM on my 6.1 phone? Will it wipe out 6.1 and load 6.5 or will I break my phone trying to do that?

I'll be nice and answer this. When you flash a ROM is wipes your phone out. It's like a fresh install of an operating system on your PC..If done correctly nothing will break. Read the stickys in the upgrade section. Unlock your phone, flash away. Any questions search first, then search again, then ask. =)

Welcome to the forum!

1. No, you can only run a single ROM, so 6.5 would replace your 6.1.
2. Possibly it could brick our device if you don't research the procedures carefully. A good place to start is HERE & HERE.

Thats the Link to a video named "How To Unlock And Flash TP2 Rhodium". You cant go wrong if you read all the information that was already recomended and then watch this vedio.

I would advise you to read virtually the entire forums here. Flashing is a simple process, but you can get in over your head quick if you don't read. We flash a lot, so it's easy for us to forget how complicated the basics can look, and might not even think to tell you something as basic as charge your phone first. All it takes is flashing the wrong thing once and you're looking at a new phone.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the quick replies. I had gotten as far as unlocking the phone but wasn't sure if I needed to flash the phone with roms containing the same OS version as the phone currently had.

Now that I know it wipes everything completely and installs the OS the rom has I will read up some more before I give it a shot.

Thanks for the tutorial video and the forum links, I really appreciate it!

No, that's the best part about the Windows Mobile OS. The ability to flash what ever version of OS you want to, along with using TF3D, Sense 2.1, 2.5, or windows own Titanium.

Have Fun, but read up about the ROM you're changing to (hacks needed, possible problems, etc...) and make sure you sync before flashing so you don't loose any contacts, calendar items, etc...
