Adding More Ram Via Sd Card

Is there a way to add more ram through the onboard sd card. I think this phone is great other than the limited amount of ram. If we could up the ram say to 512 or even 1 gig i think it would take care of alot of lag issues we have with tf3d. I know in win7, if i insert an sd card it will ask me if i want to add the Sd memory to speed up the system. So is it just a programing issue thats stopping us from doing this or is it a hardware issue?

Re: Adding More Ram Via Sd Card

It would be pretty cool if we were able to that. Sort of like like the VISTA/7 feature READYBOOST.

With what your talking about is absolutly physically impossible. Our phones dont have the hardware capabilities to reallocate the unused RAM in the SD cards to allocate them to be used as accessable RAM in our phones, thus making it impossible. Its all hardware bud, sorry.

Re: Adding More Ram Via Sd Card

Well, it is feasible to have a portion of memory of SD card as Virtual Memory just as Windows platform (physical memory and virtual memory). So it is possible but probably only Microsoft can do it.

Re: Adding More Ram Via Sd Card

On the hardware side, it cannot be done because the processor is not designed to do this. The processor knows where it's memory location is and that is all it will use. As for virtual memory, I've never thought about this for a phone but I don't see anyone coding this for windows mobile. Is there really a need? The device you buy is designed to operate a specific OS and it does it well (most of them anyway). It's not until you start tinkering with things that you run into mem issues. Besides that, looking at the stats on the new hardware available for the mobile platform in the next year, I don't see us having many issues with lag anymore. 1.5 dual core processors, separate GPU's and devices showing 1+ gigs of RAM. I think overall that we will be okay without virtual memory.

EDIT: Also, people would really screw up their phone when they pop their SD card out before powering down the device or using Disk Drive mode when connecting to PC.

Re: Adding More Ram Via Sd Card

Kind of like it wasn't possible for decades through all the previous versions of Windows until Vista came out. Alot of reasons.
