Multiple Calendar Alerts for Every Appointment

I have a HTC Touch Pro2 with a stock Sprint 6.1 ROM and I have noticed that every reminder that goes off from the calendar comes up as two events. For example, if I set a test event up to go off at 3:30pm, I get two reminders at the same time (3:30pm) for the same event. When I go to the calendar on my Touch Pro2 or Outlook on my computer there is only one event listed. Does anyone know why this happens or how to prevent it and only have one reminder per event in the calendar?
