What does this symbol mean?
 

I have a symbol on the top of my phone right now that looks like the symbol for recording or the voicemail notification symbol. when i click up there it goes to the notification screen. It says no notifications, but in the top right hand corner it shows a timer running.

What does this timer do? and what does the symbol mean?

Sounds like you have a voice mail. You may have dismissed the notification but it will still show at the top of the list if you still have a voicemail.. The timer is how long the phone has been on and running. Its a good way to tell how long the battery has lasted ya.

The timer is how long you have been connect to the data network, I think

once you install it, connect your phone via usb, and the program will show you the live phone screen. click on one of the icons that has a screen and a clipboard, I forget which icon actually, anyway play around with the icons, one them takes a screen shot.

If it is a stuck voicemail icon then you just need to clear it...

Phone->Menu->Options->CDMA ...-> Voicemail->Clear

its it's the voicemail icon, i think you can ckear it (if theres no new message) under all settings- phone- cdma services- voicemail....i think thats where i saw a "clear icon from screen" option.

The timer is how long you have been running on data aka: stuff that runs on the internet. I guess they have some plans where they charge you by the minute for using data, so this is a timer for those people to keep track.
