Data won't stay off (Sprint Touch Pro 2)

I can't get data to stay off on my Sprint Touch Pro 2. When I use the Comm Manager, the little slider moves, but a few moments later it always moves back.

I'm not trying to disable data permanently. My bluetooth headset usually won't end a call, but when data is off (if I'm able to test it before it turns itself back on) it does seem to work. I have tried the reg edits and the .cab that's floating around for this, but none of them appear to work at all.

There's also the concern that when I'm roaming internationally in a few weeks I definitely do NOT want data turning itself on. Again, though, I don't want to disable it permanently.

Is there a trick to getting the data toggle in the Comm Manager to work?

Search for a program called Nodata. You can permanently turn it off until you decide to turn it back on. This will calm your fears. I know I posted it atleast once over the in the Treo Pro community.

What rom are you on? If on 6.5 , look below: This is from Mighty Mike in the Mighty Rom thread:

"Well, ever since 6.5 was released, it is showing "always on" even though it is not. Unless you load a custom taskbar. But a stock one always shows active even though its incorrect."

I too have noticed its always on but never gave it much thought after I read the above.

I should've specified I'm on the stock ROM.

It turns out I have a nodata .cab on my storage card so that's a good solution for when I'm roaming internationally.

Any ideas how to get the Comm Manager widget to work properly?

Actually, what I mean by "properly" is that when data is set to "off" in the Comm Manager, data will be off and remain that way. This was supposed to be evident in my original post, but I guess it wasn't.

a few months back, i had an issue where my data connection kept starting up randomly every few minutes. i had 2 contacts linked to facebook and when i removed those links the problem stopped. i guess maybe it was trying to update their info.

I find that my data will turn off if
1) I don't have any Live.com account or Hotmail accounts or Gmail Sync accounts.
2) Or I am tethered via ICS or Active Sync

Does it stop you from getting any push mail like Hotmail or Google Gmail sync?
