New Slingplayer

There's a new Sling Player for Windows Mobile. Check it out here:
http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=12506

Supposedly it supports the Touch Pro 2. It already worked with it before, but now the Touch Pro 2 is listed as an officially supported device.

New features include (copy and pasted):
Unrestricted streaming on 3G and WiFi networks
Support for multiple viewing modes including wide-screen and zoom formats
Icon based interface that eliminates the need to use a stylus
Improved program guide and DVR interfaces
Sling Account support

I haven't tried it yet, but it looks nice.
EDIT:
Since they make you jump through hoops to get a cab, I'm attaching it.
EDIT 2: Some people don't like it. If you don't like it, voice your concerns here:
http://www.slingcommunity.com/forums...cketPC/threads

I like the new version, especially the bookmarks, you can actually use your finger now. However, I can not get the picture to "stretch" to fit my screen for some reason. It never fills the screen, even with a good wifi connection. This would be very nice. Anyone else using this?

Re: New Slingplayer

I tried, but when I try to register the program it says my e-mail or reg code is wrong. I've put the stuff into the boxes so many times and it never works. I loaded the old version and it all works fine. I'm not paying for support from them, so I figure I'll work on it later when it's not making me mad ... or I'll just stick with the old version.

Re: New Slingplayer

I really want to try the new version but the Sling company site says that it is not totally compatible with the Slingbox Classic (which I have). Also, in the list of compatible phones, only the Sprint TP2 is listed (not Verizon).

At this point, I'm on the fence. I'm running a Verizon TP2 and might give it a shot just to see how it works. I can always revert back to SPM Ver 1.6 if it doesn't work I guess. Has anyone tried the new SPM 2.0 on a Verizon TP2 with a Classic Slingbox yet?

I can't get mine to stretch at all. It just toggles between letterbox and standard. I guess it probably depends on which Slingbox you have. I have the original Slingbox before there was a pro and HD and all that...

I'm using it on a Sprint Touch Pro 2 with a Slingbox Classic. It's fine. Can't stretch the picture, and there is no portrait mode that I can find, but it's still way better than the old version.

HTC Touch Pro 2 is listed as compatible, and your Verizon Touch Pro 2 is pretty much identical to my Sprint. I can't imagine it wouldn't work. Probably just a mistake when they were listing devices...

I'm running the pro-hd, still no stretch. Guess we may see another update soon. I'm not big on loging in to sling media everytime either. I like the setup on the old version, especially after I finally figured out wich reg keys to pull for Shashimi. Interface looks good, just needs some tweeks.

No I'm not big on logging into sling.com either. You can still add your sling box the old fashioned way though. Just tap connect or directory (at least that is what it says after you add it so it's what I am seeing right now). I have mine added by IP address and it shows that I am not logged into sling.com.

Woah, I just noticed that last little tidbit...

Which reg keys do you pull for Sashimi?

I agree. I have a VZ TP2 & I will try it in a few minutes & report the results.

~John

EDIT: Just tried it & it works great, but is there no portrait mode anymore??

It looks just like my ipod touch Sling app now.
