Email Glitch!

I have my phone set to sync with email only from the prior 3 days but occasionally it downloads all he email from the prior month or 2. I am not sure if its a thread about this already but can someone inform me of the solution or the thread that discusses this problem. It use to do the same thing on My TP1 also.
