Stock Rom Software Conflict

So let me say that I recently switch to the stock Verizon 6.5 rom. I love the rom with sense 2.1 and it added benefits.

I use Navizon which logs wifi and cell towers earning me a small amount of change. Their support is nothing so I turn here for help. The program ran great and logged fast on the stock 6.1 rom. But when I switched to 6.5 the program ground to a halt. If I drive through the same areas the new 6.5 logs maybe 25% of what 6.1 logged. So I am trying to figure out what could have changed.

I think the problem lies in the wifi config. I initial thought the wifi scan intervals under comm and control panel in the registry were issues but I have changed them with no help. I did notice that the wifi dll changed from 6.1 to 6.5. But when I copy over the 6.1 dll the wifi no longer even turns on. I have disabled the stock guardian program but it didn't help.

Does anyone have any suggestions of where I might look. Other registry settings? Other dll changes? Now I know some will suggest a custom rom but that currently is not where I want to go. I want to fix this rom's issues. I did ask this in the 6.5 rom thread with no answers. I am asking in the general section in hopes that someone may have an answer.

Re: Stock Rom Software Conflict

Do I need any other files from the 6.1 over in 6.5 to fix the corruption issue? Or is something else the problem and it isn't the wifi dll.

I have also discovered that the bcmsddhd.dll can be copied using total commander on the 6.1. But the file is locked in the 6.5 rom and can't be copied. I don't know if this has any bearing but it seemed interesting. Any rom chefs or other experts have any ideas?

Re: Stock Rom Software Conflict

Have you tried starting Navigon after a soft reset?

I have use iGuidance forever. I upgraded to 6.5 right after Verizon released it. I then went on my first trip where I needed the navigation. iGuidance failed to announce street names using TTS, and after a while stopped working all together. I found that I could get iGuidance to work properly only after I did a soft reset.

I have since switched back to 6.1 because of the huge memory issues with 6.5. Memory usage would quickly spike to +75% after minimal usage. I would have to soft reset at least once a day (and of course any time I wanted to use iGuidance.)

Since switching back to 6.1 memory usage is under control, and I can use iGuidance without any problem. Your mileage may differ, but for me the switch back to 6.1 was the right thing to do. To bad too, because I really liked some of the features that 6.5 had to offer.

You're lucky to be getting 25%. I usually get about 10% on a same drive.

Re: Stock Rom Software Conflict

has drew tried using camawarebuddy to aid in launching navizon?

my solution is to keep my old mogul around for navizon.

Re: Stock Rom Software Conflict

Camerabuddy does not run properly on the TP2. When it assigns wifi scan times in the registry it enters the wrong values. Not sure why but it doesn't work.
Navizon is great on the 6.1 rom. It runs better on the TP2 than any other device I have used. But the problem happens only when running the Verizon stock 6.5 rom. I have never had a freeze with the TP2. It is so much better on this phone than the mogul. There isn't even a comparison. The only downfall is no cell tower logging but I will deal with that for much better and faster wifi logging.
Something like navimote is a good alternative for people who want a logging program but tdon't want to have to start or sync the program. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=110385

Re: Stock Rom Software Conflict

No the cell tower logging doesn't work on the CDMA TP2 in either cdma or gsm mode. Also it is impossible to use both cdma and gsm at the same time. The radio doesn't allow this function. So once they fix the tower issue in Navizon you will only be able to log gsm with a cdma tp2 when you switch modes with a sim card present.
