Gravity tels the phone which way it is facing, nomsayin:mrgreen: up or down

It detects which way the phone is facing and can detect acceleration in 3 axis.

Therefore it knows when you place the phone face fown and can (if set correctly) turn on speakerphone etc.
Depends on what you want it to do. Mose usefull thing for me is placing the phone upside down in a cup holder in the car because of the charger & 3.5mm jack, it rotates the screen to the right way up. |

it is useful when you use it, like say you dont want to answer your phone, you put it face down...goes to VM...THERE ARE many other uses...
