Back Up Information on Your Phone with "My Phone"

My Phone is a pretty cool way to automatically back up the date on your phone. It is a product by Microsoft that does the following:

Back up your phone automatically
Share photos on your favorite social networking sites
Access your contacts, text messages and more online for free
Locate your lost phone

I haven't seen this posted anywhere, so I thought I would share. I tried it out yesterday and it seems to work well. I am unable to post links, so just Google "My Phone".

Re: Back Up Information on Your Phone with "My Phone"

I have been using MyPhone for quite a while too. Great app. The only problems it has are:

#1: The 200 meg storage limit is too small. It should use the 5 gigs you get with your Windows Live.

#2: It would be nice if you could specify a folder and have it backup everything in that folder.

#3: It would be nice if you could delete something off your device and select an option to have it deleted off MyPhone too. Right now you can only delete things off the website if you want it deleted off your. If you delete if off yoru phone right now, MyPhone just puts it back the next time it syncs.

#4: Sometimes if I change a contact, MyPhone creates a dulicate the next time it syncs. For example, if one of my friends gets a new phone number and I change it in my contacts, the next time MyPhone synce I will have 2 contacts with my friend's name- one with their old number and one with the new.

Other than that though, it's been great.

.
#3 I don't run into this issue at all. For example, if I delete a text off my phone, it gets deleted from Myphone. The only time it replaces items is if I establish a new sync, for example, flashing to another ROM that myphone detects as a new phone. Otherwise, if its the same sync and I delete something, it comes off Myphone as well. Maybe it's your settings?

#4 I use Google Sync and Activesync which doesn't have this problem. Not to mention changes are pushed in real time in both directions.

If your deleted items aren't being put back on, then something is wrong with your MyPhone. I had a MS employee tell me this was a known issue with MyPhone that they were working on to correct. The basic point of it is if you accidentally delete something, MyPhone is designed to restore it.

Now they may have corrected this in the latest update and I haven't noticed yet (haven't deleted any contacts recently) but this is how it worked as recently as a few months ago.

I never use Activesync. I don't like the hassle of connecting my phone to my laptop. It seems kind of ironic that I would have to connect 2 mobile devices together in order to get one of them to work right, lol. I'll have to check out that Google Sync though and see what it's all about. MyPhone gets the job done for me right now though. It would be better if they fixed those minor issues, but it still works for the time being...
