Question Does Verizon's new WM 6.5 force new apps to reside on main mem?

Does Verizon's new WM 6.5 force new apps to reside on main mem?
It was a big issue with people using Omnia II (see http://forums.verizon.com/t5/PDA-Sma...ry/td-p/129856), and I don't think there has been a solution to this day.

TP2 has far more main memory than Omnia II, so this issue may not arise for many people, but since I install quite a few apps, I wanted to know how VZW's stock WM 6.5 works.

No, it doesn't. I've installed a number of apps since upgrading, and each time I have been prompted for where to install the cab, device or memory card.

But did you check the actual memory usage and confirm that those apps reside in the memory card?

What angers so many Omnia II users, as I understand, is that their WM 6.5 does also prompt you to choose where to install an app but regardless installs the app in the main memory. As a result, their huge 8GB built-in SD memory can only be used to store data - music, photos, docs, etc. - not apps.
If that's the case with VZW's stock WM 6.5, there is no way I'm upgrading.

The only case where you're forced to install to main memory is apps from Marketplace.

I haven't installed any apps to the card, so I can't check. I install all my apps to the device. All I can tell you is that I noted that I always had a choice, though. That's bizarre that the Omnia would give you a choice and then install to the device anyway.

Currently, with a number of apps installed, I'm only using about 88 MB out of a total of 252 MB, so I'm not worried about running out of room.
