Overseas problem: Phone keeps on adding "1" dial prefix

Hi guys,

Just got my new Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2, with WM6.1
It's been unlocked and I am using it in Australia. The phone recognizes my pre-paid vodafone AU simcard.

I've managed to import my contact list into this phone.
Cellphone numbers in Australia are in this format: 04-12345678
However when I try to dial, it adds a "1" to the number, so it becomes 10412345678
I do not know why it does that, but I did some googling and found that North American numbers by default have a "1" prefix.
If I call the number 1514, which is the pre-paid balance infonumber, it works!
I can also receive calls without any problem. And the caller number shows correctly: 09-87654321. But if I reply the call, it dials 10987654321.
This leaves me to think that it doesn't like a number unless it starts with 1xxxx.

So what can I do? I've tried the following:
1) manually typing in the number 0412345678 instead of using address book, but it still dials 10412345678 when I press the call button.
2) changing Settings -> System -> Regional Settings -> English (Australia), then reboot. Still same problem.
3) went through all the options under Settings -> Personal -> Phone, but nothing there that allows me to set or change dialing prefix.

Suggesstions, guys?

from inside the dialer use the menu button. it may be under options or it may be under its own options like global dialing or plus code dialing options.

on most roms you should be able to go to start-settings-personal-phone and cange the plus code dialing and the automatic prepend settings to suit your needs. i just disable em but whatever works for you!

Yeah, this sounds like an auto prepend issue. I would do what Steveoski suggested. Disable the option and you should be fine.

Push send to bring up the phone, touch menu in the lower right hand corner, scroll down to assisted dialing options, uncheck enable assisted dialing and touch done.... no more +1

Can you check your rom version. I can't find that option in the phone menu. I am using one of the MalRom from here.

Thanks,
