Yes, I like it too. The only issue I see with it is that again, not ALL Sprint TP/TP2's are having this issue. Could it be that some towers/data centers/whatever are running different versions of transmission/relay software?

If they were, it's possible that some have a hex date variable whereas others use binary or decimal. That would explain why not all of the seemingly same phones with the same ROM versions experience the trouble. My guess would be that this is the case and only in isolated areas are the CDMA towers/relay stations running the newest version of the software which no longer uses a hex date code - and if that's true every phone in that area will work correctly.

Do we have any confirmed phones that exhibit the problem and one that does NOT in the same small geographic area? Similarly, are there multiple phones in the same small geographic area that do NOT exhibit the issue at all?

ORRRRR, am I just completely crazy?

Yea that is a problem for me as well as looking at the msg tab and see 2016 as a date.

I like the hex theory too though. Makes sense.
It's not so much that the year is wrong, it's that because incoming are affected and outgoing aren't, threading is messed up. The other problem I see is that I like to save my texts. Unless the fix for this corrects the texts I've received, these ones will ALWAYS be in front of new texts that come in after the fix. That will be irritating, so I'll probably end up deleting whatever texts have come in with 2016 on them.

Re: text messages from the future Y2KX issue

Has anyone anyone tried changing the clock/date to somethime other than today (if that is even possible) to see if the year fixes (including retroactively). Or...has anyone who is in a timezone that puts them into tomorrow (if that makes sense...).

Assuming the issue is with the date being 1/1/10. That means we will have issues on: 1/10/10, 1/11/10, 10/1/10, 10/11/10, 11/01/10, 11/10/10, and then similar dates into 2011....o.O

No effect. It still gives a date of 1/1 for the timestamp.
