I'm 100% stock, just activated my phone two days ago and it's got the 2016 issue. It certainly isn't life threatening but it is a bit annoying. Hope the fix comes soon.

Happy New Year!
USER 1/1/16:
My Windows Mobile Phone is FUBAR

So, my post earlier was premature - the organization of the threaded messages does not appear to rely on the year in Windows Mobile Messaging - but it does in the 3rd party Messaging Viewer.

This is INDEED a Microsoft issue.

Didn't you just prove that it's an HTC error because it's their viewer that is having the problem?

The microsoft viewer is using whatever settings you have set in regional settings to display the date/time, as does HTC.

Interestingly enough mine only started showing 2016 after 2:00am EST - prior to that I got messages in fine with the correct 10/01/01 date. After 2am they started displaying with 16/01/01!

Also my GF's S720 may also have the problem - incoming messages are displaying (1/1) instead of their usual time. She's running WM6.1 stock Telus ROM.

No, he proved it was a WinMo problem (at the very least) even though the order is correctly displayed in the stock WinMo client. Evidently stock WinMo client displays them in the order received sorted by the date and time the local file was created, but most programs use the time stamp on the sms for sorting. Even sorted correctly, the date stamp is incorrect.

agreed,it's happening to many other brands other than htc which simply eliminates that possibility

if it only shows the time, I think that means the year is correct, if it were not correct the month/year would appear
