Exclamation Possible fix* for ActiveSync issues

Uninstall the Windows Mobile-based Device from the
network adapters section of Device manager on the PC.

control panel -> system -> hardware tab -> device manager button

restart pc and plug in the phone via usb and select active sync.

The reason this may work in your case, is Windows installed the general rdnis driver however each device has a different instance installed and thus the one device can have a corrupted driver yet the other works perfect. As seen from one flashed rom to the next. They each register a new hardware instance.

Maybe this will help some of those who may be having issues connecting through ActiveSync, especially on the newer roms it seems. Or maybe not. Just thought I'd throw this out there. Hopefully it does help resolve the issue for someone else.

Re: Possible fix* for ActiveSync issues

I had major ActiveSync problems last week-end, and finally tracked it down to duplicate entries in Notes and/or Contacts (which might have occurred when restoring from a SPB Restore after a Hard Reset). So far so good.

But your post certainly caught my attention because of this. When I check Device Manager, there is nothing pertaining to Mobile Devices under Network Adapters section, nor anywhere else. I'm assuming this only shows up when the device is actually connected, or is it supposed to be there all the time? I am running Windows Vista Home Premium, 64-bit.

Thanks for the post.

Re: Possible fix* for ActiveSync issues

I looked as well and couldn't find any reference to a "mobile devices" driver anywhere in the device manager. I even went under the View tab in device manager and selected "show hidden devices".

Re: Possible fix* for ActiveSync issues

I been having the same issue for about a month now. :\

I think it may be my job's firewall, because I can connect at home with no issues, is there a way to stop my Pro2 from creating a data connection when plunging in to my PC? when I connect my phone it disconnects in one second.

Please help!

Thanks for that - I tried what you suggested and it worked, but if I come back later, and plug in th USB cable - it will prompt for ActiveSync or Disk Drive; when I select Active Sync it either doesn't do anything or just sits there thinking its sync'ing - until I reboot the PC and/or the TP2. So, after trying all this - I switched to MightyRom WAR - it works all the time.
Appreciate the help.
