How to change the Album shortcut in camera to alternate app

I use Resco Explorer and Photo Manager as my default apps, I find them much better then the built in apps. The new photo manager also has some nice extra features including flikr upload ... anyhow ... I wanted to get Resco Photo Manager to open up when I click the photo album shortcut in the Camera app, since you can't do this with any registry hacks I could find heres how :

this is -not- a tutorial, just wanted to say how i did it in this very specifc situation. It may or may not easily apply to other applications. If you don't understand what I say below, don't try :0)

- Copy All Resco Photomanager files and folders from its install directory into the /Windows/ folder
- Copy camera.exe from /Windows/ Folder on phone to storage card
- Copy camera.exe from storage card to your computer
- Open the file in hex editor (i used XVI32)
- Goto line D5DD4
- Replace ONLY the letters H T C A l b u m with P h o t o M a n
* ONLY the letters, the spaces between are not spaces they are 00 which is not the same as a space.

- Save
- Copy camera.exe to storage card
- Copy camera.exe to /windows/ folder .. "Yes" to overwrite

There ya go.

* I can't speak for other apps but with Resco Explorer you are able to overwrite files in the /windows/ folder. It will give you an extra warning about overwriting ROM files, its OK ... well its OK if you know what your doing :-รพ

What is the actual name of the photomanager executable, I'm thinking this can be use for other applications also.

Photoman.exe is the name of the resco file. I am sure this idea could be used for another app. Potentially even in another folder but as it happens using photoman was the same amount of letters so it woulnd't change the file size at all so I just left it in the windows folder rather then /program files/resco ... I don;t know if the extra bytes would matter or not ... and since this worked for me I didn't go testing ... used up all my patience figure out how to make it work for me
