Yes, the small hole by the usb port on the bottom is a soft reset.

sounds like this one uses MORE memory than the old X button app... Can anyone confirm this? Folks on XDA seem to think so.
I'll be sticking with the old one for now.

thanks....so im guessin the "hard reset" is turnin off and takin out battery

No, that does the same thing as the soft reset button (the button just kills the battery connection for a moment).
A hard reset is where you reformat your storage space, essentially wiping out everything and returning your device to its factory state.
Luckily since WM5 started using real storage instead of RAM, this won't happen by "accident" by taking out the battery anymore.
