Hear audio from incoming calls from Nextel before answering

I don't know if this has been posted anywhere but I haven't been able to find it so don't flame me if this has already been talked about elsewhere. I've noticed something odd every time I receive an incoming call on my Sprint Mogul from someone who is calling from a Nextel phone. Before I ever answer I can hear audio from the caller coming from the speaker on the Mogul. We verified that the caller is not able to hear audio from the Mogul so it is one way. I just freaked someone out when they called me because when I answered the phone I repeated the last couple of sentences I heard them say to the person they were with before I answered. They asked how in the world did I just repeat what they said before I ever answered the phone! It's kind of cool but also a bit freaky at the same time. I couldn't even begin to think of how to explain this one to Sprint so I won't bother trying to call them about it.

I have had this happen on my 6700. Very freaky. Havn't repeated it yet though ...

This happened to me also, but it was on my wife's sprint phone (Samsung A900). I know that my brother had a phone that with his headset (wired) that came with his phone, there was an option to click on a button (on headset) and he can hear the other caller before he picked actually took the call. He said it was a feature that came with his phone so I don't know how mine did this with my mogul. I only happened once though. I don't know what type of Sprint phone my brother had but I know it was an older model that had "push to talk" capabilities.

I have had that happen a couple of times with my 6800.. It was awkward when I heard my friend callin and naggin that I wasn't picking up the phone and that I was ignoring them. My lady and I started laughing when we heard my friend...

You lucky guys,
I saw a couple posts about it on Pdaphone when the 6800 first came out you might want to search over there, but I don't think they realized the Nextel part in it.

I was hoping mine was going to have the 'defect' but no go but I didn't do a nextel test, so does it do it everytime??

ha, I always triger this situation when I call my friend who uses a nextel Nokia 6600 with my VZW XV6700. He can hear me every time.

nokia does not make ANY phones for nextel. all nextel phones are made by motorola with the exception of the blackberry, and there is no 6600.

dcd, my friend get his NOKIA 6600 from China. A Symbian S60 based GSM phone.
