Unhappy trouble with reflash xv6800, so lost, so stupid i am

(sorry if i was supposed to post in 'Upgrades')

I had a xv6700 with 6.1 pro up til last week.

It was smashed in the road by a huge dodge 4x4..

My replacement is a xv6800.

After I activated it at Verizon, the wifi no longer worked, but it did when i first received it used from a guy.

I didn't care, cause i was going to a custom WM6.1 pro or something custom ROM...

but i can't figure it out...

I was wanting the GPS radio style, wm6.1 pro, spb, VoiceCommand, with youtube support and rss feed, googlemaps, wifi, weather, ...

but here is where i got to...

I have bootloader 2.07...

I tried Hard SPL, and nueSPL....but both failed on me...

I have both USB Activesync 4.5, and also two sD cards, one 512mb, the other 2gig, non sDHC...

So far, i've managed only to disrupt my connection from Verizon....my phone currently doesn't connect, but it did yesterday...
my attempt at flashing jacked up something...

I figured i needed to do 3 steps.

1.Update bootloader
2.update Radio rom
3.update ROM image
So, now.....my results..
1. fail
2. fail.
3. fail.

and for now, i can no longer use my phone... which upsets me badly..

Can someone please gently get me going in the right direction? I've read TitanWiki, actually, i've been reading this
stuff for two WEEKS, and i'm still only able to sever my phones cell connection..
The xv6700, was a breeze to reflash, i seem to remember it only took a few hours for a rookie like me, but this xv6800....sheesh...

it's picky...and for now, i've done poorly..

any helps?

did you unlock it first? i found the PPC kitchen the best for my 6800 but you must unlock it first before you do anything else. also, as far as the WiFi goes, you didnt turn it off in comm manager did you?

Re: trouble with reflash xv6800, so lost, so stupid i am

I used the PPCkitchen on my xv6700, but i haven't installed the VB.net framework on this pc yet..

isn't that a requirement, for the kitchen?

I was going to start with a pre-built ROM, but i have absolutely no clue about this unlocking..

like I said above, i tried updating the bootloader...failed..
i tried to update the radio, failed..

I got a few different things to display on the b/l screen(3 color) but it's still reverting back to stock, 2.07

I'm just dense on this subject for some reason..

especially now that my verizon service isn't working..

I'm worried, at the least....

Re: trouble with reflash xv6800, so lost, so stupid i am

and on the wifi, it says 'driver not installed' somewhere in 'settings'...

but when i went into VZ office, i detected networks, but after the man hooked it to my old number, i no longer had a wifi icon on the comm manager screen..

i'm sure when i get the ROM upgraded, reloading a wifi driver won't be nearly so tough..if even needed..

Re: trouble with reflash xv6800, so lost, so stupid i am

QPST 2.7 (To archive your settings)
Find the link to restore your VZW back to stock.
Decide if you want to use standalone GPS (Unless you restore the pre GPS ROM, you will be at the mercy of a data plan to use GPS). VZW MR ROMs BLOCK GPS!!
Olipro 2.4 (Unlocker/Bootloader)

All the instructions HERE http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...93&postcount=4 I don't know if the megeupload link still works.
This is mainly if you want to unlock GPS also.

Otherwise just use QPST to save your settings, then Olipro 2.4 to unlock the unit.
Flash the radio then a custom ROM of your choice.

Re: trouble with reflash xv6800, so lost, so stupid i am

personally, i never had to use QPST. download PPC kitchen from the site, unlock the phone, connect phone to computer, get drivers, run the kitchen and flash. in the kitchen, unless something has changed, the roms are GPS enabled so once you flash you can use any GPS program you like.

This will get you started:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=376873

OR:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=376829

Just make sure to backup all your EPST settings with QPST.
Unlocking GPS with this manor will reset everything, even your life timer.
When you get everything set, you can just connect to QPST and load from the file you saved all your settings to, and then dial *228 opt 2, and all is well.
But since you don't have data, that should not be needed.
Unless it saves your timmer data. (Don't know for sure).

READ the instructions through more that once.
Then read them again. Then run the process.

Then Unlock with Olipro 2.4, flash radio 3.42.50, then most any custom ROM.
Stay away from the MR1 & MR2 “Downgrades”.
And avoid letting VZW know what you are doing. They don’t like we the providers of their corp. pay, to use our devices like they are designed to be used.
