Moving Programs from XP to Vista

O.k my stupid question for the day is...How do I get all of my programs (apps) and outlook contacts and calender items to Vista? I a recent Palm user, and before I would just load the palm software to the new computer and do a sync and all is well. Is it the same way for WM 6? Or are there other steps I need to take to get it up and going. I have tons of stuff on Outlook and all my 3rd party programs that I installed on my PPC that I need to get migrated to Vista. Any suggestions or tips would be much appreciated..

well if you just do an upgrade to vista then programs should stay, but if your doing a clean install of vista, then you have to backup your outlook files and restore them once its done, asfar as third partysoftware, they are going to stay on the phone not on the pc, if you ever do a hard rest, your going to have reinstall them all again from vista.
